Roice-Hurst Humane Society is a private, non-profit animal shelter.
We were originally founded in 1963 and spent some years contracting
with the county as animal control. Our name was changed from Mesa
County Humane Society to our current name in 2000 to honor our founders
and define our unique business from the county facility. Roice-Hurst
is a "NO KILL" facility, which means that we shelter all
of our animals until they find a new, permanent home. Along with
saving animals lives, we also offer a low cost vaccination clinic,
educational training, community events, animal rescue, low cost
cremation service, volunteer opportunities and low cost micro-chipping
among many other things.
*PLEASE DONATE*
Come out and support the animals
of the Roice-Hurst Humane Society at any one of our up and coming
events.
We would like to
extend a heart felt thanks to the community and Old Chicago's pizza
for the amazing event that took place. Also a huge thanks to the
EndZone, Verizon Wireless, the great group of girls from redlands
middle school, the honey baked ham company, the group of girls from
main street bagels, Big O tires, Comet Cleaners, Ben Dowd Excavating,
Tom Murray for our billboard, Moose Country and all of GJ radio.
FreePress and cumulus broadcasting and many many more, just a huge
thank you to everyone!
Participate in our "Paws
Up" donation program. Look
for our donation boxes and our Paw sliips in local busines's around
town and donate a dollar to help homless pets, or you can come
out to the shelter and get your name put up on our Paws Up window,
all for just a dollar.
At the present time we are going
through about 500lbs of cat litter a week, so we are looking for
that to be donated if possible. The best kind is unscented non-scoopable
Special Kitty brand litter. We also still need Purina brand pet
food products, and are always in need of Bleach, dog collars and
leashes. We are still looking for an individual or a company to
donate a tommylift for the back of our new truck that Fouco Motors
helped us get so that we can easily load our donated litter and
food from the various stores in town.
For the past 10 years you have been hearing us
say that “We need to expand the shelter”, but in all
honesty Mesa County NEEDS us to expand the shelter. We are busting
at the seams with animals, and yet still have to turn away 100’s
of animals a week. We have been the same size since 1963, and
needless to say Mesa County has more than tripled in size. We
are working on fundraising ideas to help raise money, but what
helps us out the most is when the community donates, so we really
need some help. Please donate, and help us to stay here for another
44 years.
We are in
dire need of monetary donations. The response from the community
has been amazing thus far, but we are still asking that you
donate anything you can, to help keep our doors open. We are
on bended knees asking that you help us out. Either stop into
the shelter during our business hours or you can mail your
donation to our address above.
